Pedestrian seriously injured after collision involving HGV at Catterick Garrison

A pedestrian has received serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle at Catterick Garrison. The man, who is aged in his 20s, was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough after the early morning crash and is currently being treated. The collision, which involved a white Renault HGV, happened on Leyburn Road between Camp Centre and Plumer Road at around 5.15am on Saturday.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Local diversions were put in place while the emergency services worked at the scene and to allow a full police examination.

“The road reopened at around 10am. “Officers are appealing for any information that could assist the investigation, including possible sighting of the man or the white Renault heavy goods vehicle prior to the collision.” Anyone with information regarding the crash should call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
