Power returns to Cheshire homes after truck hit power lines

Berkshire Eagle staff

CHESHIRE — The entire town was plunged into darkness for more than two hours on Monday, thanks to a delivery truck. Around 4:15 p.m., the truck carrying road salt to the Cheshire Department of Public Works hit a high-tension line with the dump body, according to a Cheshire police posting on Facebook. National grid reported more than 1,300 homes and business were without electricity until about 6:30 p.m.

Police say no one was hurt.
