Live: Lorry sheds load of STEEL causing tunnel chaos

We will be bringing you the latest as commuters face icy conditions after the big freeze bit across Merseyside overnight. A lorry has shed its load in Wallasey – with steel scattered across the dock link road causing tunnel congestion. We will flag up any disruption to the trains, airports and roads plus any school closures we are made aware of.

As of 6.30am Merseyrail trains were running save for Hunts Cross which due to a points failure meaning services are now starting and terminating at Liverpool South Parkway. A points failure is also causing delays on Northern between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street as some lines are blocked – delays currently of up to 60 minutes. Liverpool John Lennon Airport appears to be running normally.

We will be bringing you all the latest traffic and travel news, as well as the most up to date forecasts over the next day.
