A man has been jailed for burglary and robbery after targeting vulnerable people in Huddersfield.
Jason Allen, aged 39, was due to start a two day trial this week at Leeds Magistrates Court but he pleaded guilty to two offences of burglary and robbery. He was charged by police for two incidents where he preyed on elderly people in the community.

The first instance was in July 2018 where he targeted the home of an 86-year-old female in Milnsbridge, where he broke into her home and stole money before fleeing. The second incident happened in the Berry Brow area of Huddersfield where he approached an 82-year-old lady at the side of her home and stole her purse. The judge handed him a five year prison sentence for both crimes he committed.

DC Tony Johnson, of Kirklees District CID, said: “We are pleased with the sentence given to Allen today which reflects the fact that he preyed on elderly vulnerable members of the community.

He now faces a significant spell behind bars and I hope this provides some comfort to his victims and their families.
