Truck driver shot in apparent road rage

Mar 15, 2019 at 12:34 AM Mar 15, 2019 at 12:34 AM OCALA — A truck driver was shot on Interstate 75 by an unknown person from a moving vehicle late Thursday night in an apparent road rage.

Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials said the male driver suffered a non-life threatening injury to his left arm. The injured man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. They received a call about the incident at 10:30 p.m.

According to authorities, a section of northbound I-75 near the State Road 200 exit is being repaired, causing traffic to slow down. Once drivers passed the construction zone, traffic began flowing again on the highway. Sheriff’s Office officials said the truck was in the inside lane and a sport utility vehicle drove beside the truck in the emergency lane.

Several shots were fired from the SUV, and one of the rounds struck the driver.

The SUV sped northbound on I-75.
