Chelmsford Broomfield Road crash: Woman dies in hospital a week after being hit by skip lorry

A woman who sustained serious leg injuries after being hit by a lorry in Chelmsford has died. On Wednesday, June 19, the woman was struck by the skip lorry near to the Tesco Express store and KFC restaurant on Broomfield Road. The collision happened at 2.20pm with emergency services rushing to the scene.

The woman in her 80s, sustained serious life-threatening leg injuries following the crash and was taken to hospital. She died a week later.

The driver of the lorry, a 32-year-old man from Brentwood, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to come forward
