'It's incredibly sad'

Residents have been left in shock after a man died while driving a forklift truck. Police were called to the the Barcode Warehouse at Telford Drive, Newark[1] at 9.50am today, Tuesday May 4. A 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Locals have been left in a state of shock by what has happened on the industrial estate.

Jerry Sullivan, 53, who lives in the area, said: “I only come down here every so often but it’s definitely not something that you see every day. “It’s incredibly sad for the man that died.” Another person, who works nearby but wishes to remain anonymous, said: “I saw something this morning when I was near work.

“It is not something you’re used to seeing around here, so it was quite a shock.”

Barcode Warehouse have declined to comment on the matter.

Officers at the scene have told Lincolnshire Live[2] that they were waiting for the forklift involved to be removed from the site.

One police van and two police officers were spotted at the scene several hours after the incident.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and will investigate the circumstances with the police[3].
