Tourist dubbed 'Austin Powers' after getting car wedged in lane

A driver apparently on his holidays in Cornwall found himself in a tricky situation after getting his car wedged between the hedges of a lane near St Buryan. A confused man who witnessed the incident compared the situation to a scene from hit comedy Austin Powers after the grey BMW attempted what looked like a 100-point turn to avoid the truck. Matt Morris, 27, said he came across the car while making a delivery for employers Celtic Turf earlier today.

He said that despite it looking like there was enough room for the BMW to squeeze past him, the driver decided to try and turn around to find a different route. This led to the car becoming stuck between the hedges as the driver attempted to carry out the bizarre manoeuver.

The car became wedged in an unusual position

“I work for Celtic Turf and was on the turf deliveries leaving St Buryan, heading for Crows-an-wra, when I met this BMW in the narrows,” said Mr Morris. “He pulled in, I could get past but just as I was about to go past he pulled forward nearly hitting the front of the lorry.

“He then performed this unusual manoeuvre in front of the lorry, and drove off in the other direction.”

Matt has since shared a video of the incident on Facebook with it attracting almost 50,000 views in five hours.

That video can be seen at the top of the story.

Lots of people likened the situation to the famous sketch in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery where the secret agent becomes stuck trying to navigate his way around his nemesis Dr Evil’s headquarters.
