Two seriously injured after three car crash which shut the A17

Two people have been seriously injured after a three car crash which closed the A17. The serious collision occurred at Asgarby near Sleaford[1] at 1.45pm yesterday, Friday, June 21. A blue Kia Picanto, a white Nissan Navaro pick up truck and a blue Suzuki Swift were all involved in the accident.

Two air ambulances were called to the scene along with all three emergency services.

The force has now revealed that a man in his 70s and a woman in her 50s have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Both were in the Kia Picanto – there are no reports of other injuries.

EMAS told Lincolnshire Live[2] in a statement that three people were taken to hospital after the crash.

A spokesperson said: “We have taken one patient to Sheffield Northern General Hospital by air ambulance, one patient to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham by land ambulance and one patient to Boston Pilgrim Hospital by land ambulance.”

The road was re-opened at around 5.45pm, four hours after the incident.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police[3] said: “Anyone who was in the area and either saw the collision or saw any of the vehicles before the collision is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 245 of June 21.”
