Claydon – Appeal after serious road traffic collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision in Claydon. Officers were called at just before 6:30pm, yesterday Sunday 28 July, to a three vehicle collision on eastbound carriageway of the A14 at Claydon, near to junction 52. It was reported that an empty broken down vehicle, a white Seat Leon car, was stationary at the side of the carriageway and was struck by a Mann HGV vehicle.

The car was pushed into the path of a white Ford Transit van which it collided with. The lorry continued through the crash barriers, falling onto the road below – the B1113. The male driver of the lorry was taken to hospital and remains in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

Nobody else is reported to have been injured as a result of the incident. The eastbound carriageway and B1113 was closed for several hours to allow recovery of the vehicles to take place. One lane of the A14 has since reopened.
