Dramatic pictures show aftermath of crash involving Asda lorry and abandoned car near Magna Park

The driver of an Asda lorry was lucky to escape uninjured after his vehicle crashed into an abandoned car and ended up on an embankment. The driver was not hurt after his HGV collided with the car which had been left on the side of Coventry Road on the Magna Park Industrial Estate in Lutterworth. Firefighters were called to the scene by police this morning.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called by the police at 4.36am.

“It is believed that the car had earlier been abandoned at the side of Coventry Road. “It is believed the HGV hit the car and ended up on the embankment. “We helped the driver of the HGV out of his cab.

“He was not injured. No-one else was involved in the incident.” Lutterworth Fire tweeted photographs from the scene.

They posted on Twitter: “Fortunately for all, nobody was injured.

Crew helped the driver of the LGV out of his vehicle and made the scene safe before returning to station.” Crews from Hinckley, Lutterworth and Rugby were called out. The firefighters made the vehicles safe and left the incident to the police.
