Summer Family Fun Day with activities on and off the ice for the price of a skate

Book a skate and enjoy lots of free activities on the ice and outdoors on the plaza at the National Ice Centre this summer. Activities include a chance to have a go at bubble football, arts and crafts, hockey try-outs, family games, Segway and foam archery. The National Ice Centre in Nottingham will host the big Summer Family Fun Day on Friday, August 9 (11.15am-3.45pm) – so maybe an idea for a day trip this school holiday.

The fun day will include the venue’s first ever zorbing on ice experience. Get inside one of the balls and try to stay on your feet as you are propelled across the ice. Bubble football will also be played, where you play a game of football as best you can and try to score a goal while zorbing.

Ice over shoes will be available to help youngsters have better grip.

How about some ice hockey try-outs so you can get a taster of what it’s like to be a Nottingham Panthers player? Drop in to try your hand at different aspects of the sport, such as using sticks, controlling the puck, and even shooting. A DJ will be playing tunes on the ice and a new photo-booth will be next to the rink, loaded with summery filters for the perfect souvenir.

A day of family fun on and off the ice

Adrenaline Jungle will be joining the activities outside on Bolero Square, bringing foam archery equipment for everyone to try out and Segways so you can zip around a course on the plaza.

The staff will be on site to help little ones learn techniques safely while having a fun time. St John’s Ambulance and the Nottinghamshire emergency services are also heading along to meet little ones with a chance sit inside a fire truck and see the vehicles close-up – before CPR and basic first aid demonstrations for life saving skills. White Post Farm will be joining in the day with educational talks about their different animals.

In the plaza, families will also find summer activities such as family games, a giant BBQ and ping pong tables, with face painting and arts and crafts.
