Air ambulance called as A30 closed by six vehicle crash in Devon

An air ambulance has been called following a crash that has left two people seriously hurt and the A30 closed in both directions. The collision happened at Cheriton Bishop in Devon at around 7.40am this morning (Wednesday, August 28) and a lorry and caravan are among six vehicles involved. Police, the fire brigade and ambulance service are all at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed that an HGV had overturned on its side and several people have been injured, including two who are believed to be seriously hurt. A force spokesman said: “Both carriageways are closed and are likely to remain shut for some time. “Diversions are in place westbound at Fingle Glen/Pathfinder and eastbound at Woodleigh Junction.

“Police are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible for the time being.” The air ambulance is currently at the scene. The A30 is a busy arterial route connecting Devon and Cornwall with London and is popular with tourists flocking to the South West of England during holidays.
