Appeal for information after collision on A19 near Exelby Services

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a collision between a car and a lorry. The incident happened around 7.45am on 28  August close to Exelby Services near Ingleby Arncliffe when a black Ford Fiesta travelling northwards crossed the central reservation and collided with an HGV on the opposite carriageway. The driver of the car, an 18 year-old man, was trapped in the vehicle before being freed by firefighters.

He was assessed by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and taken to hospital by road with minor injuries. He has now been discharged. The HGV driver suffered no injuries.

The road was closed until around 11.30am to allow for the vehicles to be recovered and damage to the road and barriers to be assessed and repaired by the Highways Agency. North Yorkshire Police is looking for witnesses and dash cam footage to help establish the full circumstances of the incident.
