Biker dies after collision involving HGV on busy Stoke-on-Trent road

A major investigation is underway after a biker died following a collision with a lorry on a Stoke-on-Trent street. Police and paramedics were called to Campbell Road in Stoke shortly before 4pm yesterday (August 13) to reports of a two vehicle crash. The biker – a man in his fifties – was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital but died shortly later.

An investigation is now underway and the road remains closed between the A500 and Birmingham Road. A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “There has been a fatal road traffic collision on Campbell Road in Stoke between a motorcycle and a heavy goods vehicle. “The incident was reported at 3.57pm and sadly the motorcyclist passed away.

“An investigation is now underway and there will be further updates from officers expected throughout the day. “The road has been closed since then by the Collision Investigation Unit.” A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: “Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended.

“We treated a man in his 50s and took him to Royal Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance.” Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any dashcam footage is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 528 of 13 August.
