A HORROR crash left a car engine in the middle of a Glasgow street amid claims three people fled the scene of the smash. Incredible images show emergency services at the crash scene following the collision in Bilsland Drive, near Maryhill, around 5.30pm last night.

Pieces of debris, including a car engine, were strewn across the street, near to Balmore Road. Another image shows a dark-coloured BMW motor fully mounted on the pavement after being mangled in the crash.

Police and fire service crews shut down the road as they cleared the wreckage.

The car engine was strapped to the back of a recovery truck as it was removed. And police confirmed those involved in the crash fled the scene, with eyewitnesses claiming three people legged it from the motor. Worried locals shared their concern as the images were posted on social media.

One person commented: “I can’t believe people have actually ran away from this uninjured I really hope they get checked out.”

Another said: “Passed this earlier car total wreck I’m surprised they managed to run from this without injury.” A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 5.35pm on Thursday 22nd of August, police were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on Bilsland Drive, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the road was closed while it was cleared. “Nobody was injured and enquiries are ongoing.”
