Cyclist dies after Anlaby Road crash

A cyclist who was hit by a lorry in Anlaby Road has died. Last month, the 55-year-old was cycling along Anlaby Road, near to Midland Street, when he was involved in a crash with a HGV. The man, whose family wish to remain unnamed, sadly died from his injuries in hospital on Wednesday.

The cyclist was helped by members of the public and was rushed to hospital at 4.45pm on July 25. The road remained closed for several hours while police carried out their investigations. The lorry driver left the scene and was later questioned by police but no arrests have been made in connection with the crash.

In a statement released on Sunday morning, a spokesman for Humberside Police said: “A man who was taken to hospital following a road traffic collision involving a bicycle and a HGV in Hull has sadly died.

“It happened on Anlaby Road around 4.30pm on Thursday, July 25. “The 55-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital but sadly passed away on the evening of Wednesday, August 7. “His family are being supported by officers.

His relatives have requested that we do not release the name or a photograph of him. “The cyclist’s family have also asked to send thanks to members of the public who stopped and helped at the time, to staff at Hull Royal Infirmary and also to other emergency services. “No arrests were made in connection with this incident.”
