Live: Severe delays on M6 as lorry fire closes two lanes

There are severe delays on the M6 with tailbacks to Cheshire following a lorry fire on southbound carriageway. Fire services are attending the incident between M6 (Keele Services) and J15 A500 D Road (Stoke-On-Trent). Highways England has reported that there are severe delays as a result of the closure of two lanes.

Lanes one and two (of three) are currently closed. The cameras show that the lorry is on fire on the hard shoulder, however for safety lanes one and two have been closed. We understand there are two fire engines on the scene.

A Highways England spokesman said:  “Lanes one and two closed (of 3) due to vehicles fire M6 J16 Crewe to J15 Stoke-on-Tent. Traffic Officers en route. Please drive carefully.”
