Lorry bashes into parked car at Hinckley railway station

A lorry bashed into a car as it struggled to navigate the car park at Hinckley railway station during rush hour this morning. The articulated HGV carrying two diggers hit the parked car as it tried to angle its trailer to get down the length of the busy car park. The driver then unloaded the diggers in the middle of the mini roundabout by the drop-off bay outside the ticket office.

It happened at around 8.25am this morning.

A lorry unloads its two diggers in the middle of a mini roundabout after scraping a parked car at Hinckley railway station.

A passerby who regularly uses the station and was there when it happened said: “I thought it was quite ambitious to try and get such a big lorry through the car park. “I was walking down the path to the station when it hit the car. The lorry cab swung out to its right and just caught it.

“There was a bit of a crunch but it wasn’t that loud, although it made the car’s alarm lights start flashing. “Fortunately, the road wasn’t blocked and cars dropping people off were able to get round the HGV to the front of the station.”

“It was not a police matter, they were just making us aware.”
