Man and woman killed in horrific lorry crash named by police

A man and woman who were killed in a horrific crash involving a car and a lorry have been named by police. Jean Kay, 70, and Richard Kay, 44,  were travelling in a Vauxhall Mokka car which collided with a lorry on Friday, August 16. The crash happened at around noon near the junction of Thornton Street and Wold Road on the B1206 in Barrow.

Another man, who was driving the car, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, a Volvo HGV, was unhurt. Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were in attendance.

Roads in the area were closed off for some time while emergency services were at the scene. Humberside Police today named the two victims in a statement.

It said: “The family of a man and woman who sadly died in a serious road traffic collision near to Barrow upon Humber on Friday 16 August have asked for their names to be released. “Jean Kay, 70, and Richard Kay, 44, died after the car they were in collided with another vehicle on the B1206 near to the junction of Thornton Street and Wold Road.

“Specially trained officers are supporting their family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time.”

Any witnesses can all Humberside Police on 101, quoting log 215 of August 16.
