Man injured after A2 crash between lorry and recovery truck near Bluewater

A man has been taken to hospital with injuries following a crash between a lorry and a recovery truck on the A2. Drivers are facing delays this morning (August 31) after the crash brought the A2 to a crawl near Bluewater. Kent Police was called at 5.36am to the scene of the crash, which happened just before the slip road for the shopping centre.

  Traffic was briefly held as part of the clean up operation but officers have since left the area. Traffic officers from Highways England and paramedics however remain at the scene of the crash between the junctions for Ebbsfleet and Bean on the Londonbound carriageway. There is also thought to be a fuel spillage on the road and drivers are advised to approach with caution.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 5.36am on Saturday, August 31 regarding a collision involving a lorry and a recovery truck on the Londonbound carriageway of the A2 prior to the slip road for Bluewater. “Officers and Highways teams attended the scene where a man was treated for a hand injury. He has been conveyed to local hospital for further medical attention.

“Highways officers remain at the scene where one lane is closed to traffic.”

A spokesman for Highways England tweeted: “#A2 Londonbound between #Ebbsfleet and #Bean (Bluewater Jct) Lane 1 (of 4) is closed due to a multi-vehicle collision.

“#TrafficOfficers are on scene alongside @SECAmbulance.”
