Motorcyclist who died in crash with HGV is named

Police have named the motorcyclist who died in a crash with a HGV in Staffordshire. Richard Thorley, 57, of Tean, was riding a Yamaha bike when he collided with the HGV on a Staffordshire road just before 4pm on Tuesday, August 13. He was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he died a short while later from his injuries, according to Staffordshire Police.

Campbell Road, in Stoke was closed for some time while officers from the collision investigation unit carried out an examination. A spokesman from the force said: “Richard Thorley, aged 57, of Tean was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital but, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died a short time later as a result of the injuries he had received. “Mr Thorley’s family members have requested that their privacy be respected while they deal with their loss.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any dashcam footage is asked to ring 101, quoting incident number 528 of Tuesday, August 13.
