Notorious guided busway claims yet another car

Yet another vehicle has become a victim of the notorious guided busway. The car was spotted trapped on the busway at around 2:30pm today (August 31). The driver found themselves in the embarrassing situation near the Cambridge Science Park off Milton Road.

The driver is far from the first person to get stuck on the busway, although the frequency of the occurrences have slowed down recently.

A lorry was one of the latest vehicles to get trapped in February this year. The HGV crashed into the busway near Longstanton, getting its offside front wheel stuck between two beams of the guideway. A photo was shared on social media, with many Cambridgeshire locals finding it hilarious.

One commenter said the driver would be in the running for “Cambridgeshire Guided Busway Award for Numpties”.

Rob Holman claimed he had never heard of the busway until he became trapped on it, blaming the situation on poor signposting and lack of street lights. Mr Holman ended up with three busted tyres and a hefty repair bill.

To make matters worse, he had to wait three hours with his teenage daughter for a repair truck to come rescue them.

The council said at the time: “We have multiple signs on the approach to the Busway, including the ‘No Entry’ signs which have a plate under them saying ‘Except Guided Buses’ which had to be specially approved by the Department of Transport who carefully checked the locations to make sure they complied with standards.”
