Overturned Eddie Stobart lorry sparks massive delays in Flintshire

An overturned lorry has sparked huge delays in Flintshire . The Eddie Stobart truck, which was carrying paper, overturned on the A548 at the roundabout near Shotwick Road on the Deeside Industrial Estate at around 12pm. Long delays formed on surrounding roads as the major operation took place to right the lorry.

Nobody is believed to have been hurt in the crash. Following the incident, North Wales Police warned motorists to avoid the area.

On Twitter, they said: “Motorists are asked to avoid the A548 near the roundabout at Shotwick Road and Parkway on the Deeside Industrial Park , Flintshire as we deal with an overturned HGV which is carrying paper. “Recovery on the way.

Please take an alternative route. Thank you for your cooperation.”

The road was closed while recovery crews used a huge crane to right the overturned truck. It led to massive delays for motorists, with huge queues building on the A548 and A494.

Long delays were also experienced on surrounding roads.

At around 2pm, a lorry hit the Shotton Railway Bridge on Chester Road East, which added to the level of delays in the area.

Transport for Wales services also came to a standstill as a result of the crash.

Eddie Stobart have been approached for comment on the incident.
