Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by a truck near Hitchin High Street

A woman in her 80s was seriously injured after being hit by a tuck in Hitchin yesterday. The woman was walking down Queen Street, near to the High Street, when the orange vehicle struck her at around 10.50am, (Monday, 12 August). She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital via the East of England Ambulance Service.

Police constable Tony Saunders from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, to get in touch. “I would also like to hear from anyone who might have captured what happened on dash cam footage.
