Tide speed warning after 'embarrassed' driver gets stuck in harbour – Devon Live

An embarrassed driver could do nothing but wait after his truck ended up getting stuck in a North Devon harbour on Friday.

The man got stuck in Watermouth Harbour on Friday night and as the high tide came in, his truck got submerged in the water.

In the picture above, the man was spotted just waiting in his car for the tide to go down.

Ilfracombe Coastguard attended at around 8pm although they said the ‘man was too embarrassed’ to ask for help.

A spokesman for Ilfracombe Coastguard said: “We were called at about 8pm.

“The owner was caught out by the very high tide and was possibly late back from a boat trip so drove the truck as high up the bank to save the engine.

“The owner was embarrassed and didn’t not want any help.  All was ok so we just monitored the situation.”

The spokesman went on to warn people how high the tide can rise.
