What time?! Anger as families woken up at 6am by contractors working in residential area

A man has criticised a company for carrying out noisy work in a residential area at 6am. The complainant, who did not want to be identified, took photographs and video of material being dropped into a truck close to his home in Mottershead Drive, Innsworth, near Gloucester[1]. It was carried out today by Maisemore-based Complete Utilities, which has apologised.

“I’m no expert but I’m pretty certain they shouldn’t be doing this at six o’clock in the morning.”

He added that he did not know what work the company was doing at the site as he had been away and woke up to it this morning. The man said he had reported the matter to Tewkesbury Borough Council[2], which covers Innsworth.

“I can only apologise for any disturbance and noise caused.” Peter Tonge,  head of community services at Tewkesbury Borough Council, said: “We received a complaint from a resident this morning about a utilities truck carrying out work at around 6am.

“Utilities companies sometimes work at these hours in order to minimise the disruption to rush-hour traffic and the work is often quick and swiftly moves on.

If the noise became frequent or prolonged we would, of course, take action but given the isolated nature of this particular complaint, it isn’t something that we would pursue.”
