Published by Sarah Yeoman at 2:23pm 28th August 2019. (Updated at 2:49pm 28th August 2019) Five vehicles were caught in the crash at Cheriton Bishop, including three cars, a van, and a lorry towing a small and large trailer plus a caravan. One driver, a woman in her 30s, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by the air ambulance with multiple serious injuries.

She is in a critical but stable condition. The HGV driver also suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital. Police say the road is likely to remain closed in both directions for another two hours and drivers are urged ti avoid the area.

One lane will remain closed in both directions overnight for repairs after the central reservation was left badly damaged.

The A30 remains closed in both directions due to the significant damage to the central reservation and vehicles involved.
