Dodgem lorry involved in crash near Derby

With spectacular irony, a dodgem lorry has crashed near Derby. The vehicle pictured above appears to be carrying dodgems, designed to be driven into one another for the amusement of fairground visitors. It is unlikely that the driver was having much fun, however.

This photograph, sent to Derbyshire Live, shows how the bumper car carrier was involved in a collision with another HGV where the A50 meets the M1, near to East Midlands Airport. It happened on Friday morning and the snap was sent to us by Derby-based lawyer Abi Fitzgerald, who works for Cartwright King, in Stuart Street. She said: "I was stuck in traffic and when I came across the collision had to take a photograph because of the irony."

No-one was reported as hurt in the incident which saw traffic build up for around an hour until it was cleared. Have you taken any similarly hilarious snaps? If so, we would love to see them.

Please avoid taking pictures while driving though.

It is illegal and you might crash.
