Driver caught driving at 110mph told police he needed 'a number two'

A driver caught speeding at 110mph on a motorway in Cambridgeshire told police he needed a number two. The driver of the Silver Mercedes was caught undertaking in “awful weather conditions” on the A1 at Yaxley, a village near Peterborough, by an unmarked police car in the evening on August 29. But after being stopped and spoken to, the driver explained that the reason why he drove so fast was because he needed the toilet.

The officer felt it was an unacceptable reason and reported the driver. An officer from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit tweeted: “A1M Yaxley. Vehicle stopped after it passed our unmarked vehicle and then decided to drive along at 110mph undertaking in awful weather conditions.

“The ‘professional’ HGV driver was very sorry but he ‘needed the toilet, a number 2’

“Err, that’s okay then.

Reported.”
