You’ve probably heard that London is getting a cheese conveyer belt, and this is it!

Pick & Cheese, the new British cheese and wine bar from Mathew Carver (the genius behind the Cheese Truck), is loading up the cheese travelator ready for opening on Saturday 7 September. It’s the first cheese conveyer belt restaurant in the UK, offering dairy fans the chance to grab plate after plate of small producer cheeses paired with individual condiments matched with pours from Pick & Cheese’s natural-led list. Perch at the belt and follow one of Mathew’s signature cheese flights, or simply pick out whichever dishes catch your eye.

There’s a buttery Gubbeen with Sweet and Sour Pineapple, a farmhouse-style Fellstone with Sherry-Poached Cherries, a Rollright with Bacon Treacle Spread, and a pungent Renegade Monk with Earl Grey Tea Jelly. British charcuterie plates by Tottenham’s Black Hand Food and Borough Market’s Cannon & Cannon provide a little punctuation to the cheese parade, and you can also order off-belt hot dishes, including a spin on Mathew’s famed Cheese Truck grilled cheeses.

2 Charlie’s at Brown’s Hotel, Mayfair
Brown’s Hotel, a Rocco Forte Hotel, is set to unveil its new restaurant, Charlie’s on 9 September. The new restaurant, named after Lord Charles Forte, will be directed by acclaimed Michelin-starred Chef Adam Byatt, who is joining Brown’s as Chef Director. Adam’s team (which includes Executive Chef Owain Atkinson previously from Kitchin, La Petite Maison and Chez Bruce,  and Head Chef Matt Starling from Fera at Claridge’s) will serve dishes with authentic ingredients of the highest quality sourced from suppliers across the globe, while embracing a bygone era of service with a seamless sense of theatre. Daily specials such as whole poached salmon and glazed Essex gammon will be served on a traditional silver trolley, alongside a la carte dishes like fried courgette flowers with truffle honey or whole 12oz Dover Sole simply grilled or baked in butter. The ‘botanical utopia’ interiors will feature original wood paneling, exclusively commissioned bespoke wallpaper by Adam Ellis, and artwork from acclaimed artist Kristjana S Williams, who creates works using intricate layers of watercolour, photographs, hand-cut paper, Victorian stencils and collage.

3 The Court, Soho
Soho’s newest members’ club, The Court, located in the former iconic venue Bag O’Nails, is reopening on 2 September after a summer break. The club, founded by young entrepreneur Harry Mead, redefines the private members’ experience with an exciting events programme, unique space and curated team of experts behind the food and beverage offerings. Members and guests can indulge in an extensive wine list and twists on well-loved cocktails with a menu created by award-winning drinks consultancy Mr Lyan Studio. When it comes to food, there’s a brand new menu, with breakfast served from the indulgently late time of 11am, with a menu of luscious starters, mains, sides and desserts during dinner. Members are encouraged to use The Court as a communal work and meeting space, dining destination or place to dance the night away.

The Court members’ club in Soho reopens after a summer break

4 Colours Hoxton
The team behind Queen of Hoxton and The Book Club is launching a brand new multi-arts bar and club, Colours Hoxton, on the former site of Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on 13 September. Set to explode into Hoxton Square with a programme of wild and wonderful music, art and performance, Colours’ 300-capacity live space will host a stellar line up of gigs, live shows and club nights with residencies from inclusive LGBTQ+ Bollywood powerhouse Hungama, the female-led immersive collective Shotgun Carousel, and Village Underground favourites The Heatwave presents. Plus, the venue’s SuperCulture room will host cutting-edge cultural events every weeknight, from Queer Experimental Cinema to Neon Naked Life Drawing panels, hip hop yoga and Sober LGBTQ+ Mixers. Colours by name and colours by nature, the venue will boast a bespoke LED lighting installation called The Colour Trap, designed by Burning Man lighting sculptor Christopher Shardt. The interior will be designed by Mare Street Market’s outfitters, alongside an exclusive exhibition of artwork by the brains behind Lady Gaga’s iconic Telephone Hat, Fred Butler. 5 The Loyal Tavern, Bermondsey
The Loyal Tavern, a new restaurant and bar in Bermondsey, opens on Monday 16 September with a great soft launch offer running from 6-15 September where you can get 50% off your food bill at dinner time. Restaurateur Adam White and Chef Patron Tom Cenci, previously Executive Chef at Duck & Waffle, have teamed up to launch the new restaurant on the former Village East site (a local favourite that we’re sad to see go), transforming the vibrant venue into a new neighbourhood restaurant and bar. Loyal Tavern will showcase inventive small plates, brought about by a love of local sustainable ingredients. The produce-led menu features simple yet flawless dishes of Cornish mackerel with apple, pine nut and truffle, and venison tartar with beef dripping.

Daily specials include the likes of rib of retired dairy cow and gurnard with crab bisque, carrot and seaweed. Bar Manager Antonio Del Monte, previously of The Ned, part of the Soho House Group, has created a cocktail menu of seasonal botanicals in punch bowls alongside a selection of natural, new world, British and international wines carefully paired to match the dishes. During the soft launch, the restaurant will open Mon-Weds 6pm-11.30pm, Thurs 12pm-11.30pm, Sat 9am-1.30am and Sun 9am-11.30pm.

There’s fast food, and then there’s Formula One food. Racing driver Lewis Hamilton is one of a team of food revolutionaries, including Beyond Meat’s Tommaso Chiabra, backing one of London’s coolest new concepts, Neat Burger – the first plant-based sustainable burger chain of its kind. Opening on 2 September, Neat Burger promises to transform the way people see plant-based food by appealing to not only those who follow vegan diets, but also meat-eaters who want to eat delicious meat-free dishes that are more sustainable, healthier and ethical. Neat Burger will serve unique patties, specially created by their team of chefs in collaboration with Beyond Meat, a plant-based meat alternative, with a menu consisting of three core burgers – The Neat, The Cheese and The Chick’n.

There’ll also be The Hot Dog, along with sides of skinny fries, sweet potato fries and tater tots. To drink, you can get your hands on Just Water, the eco-conscious brand launched by Jaden Smith, as well as ethical Lemonaid sodas and dairy-free, soft serve, coconut and soya-based milkshakes. The plan is to expand the concept globally with 14 franchises over the next 24 months.

The Ghost Group is debuting the first of many casual dining concepts on 3 September 2019.

Set across two floors, Terra Terra will be an experiential neighbourhood destination, to be enjoyed any time of the day, from baked pastries, fresh juices and espressos in the morning, to late-night signature cocktails, hand-cut pasta and market-driven specials. Inspired by the rural simplicity of Italian cooking, Terra Terra will create simple dishes using the purest Italian and seasonal British produce. Start with a choice of chichetti’s, followed by a flavoured selection of small plates featuring beef carpaccio with crispy parmesan and tuna crudo served with smoked aubergine and stracciatella, followed by larger dishes of bigoli pasta served with aglio, olio, peperoncino & clams, or fennel sausage, roasted peppers & chilli oil pizzette. Colourful salads and panino are also available to grab and go throughout the day.

8 The Adam & Eve, Fitzrovia
The Adam & Eve has had a refurb and is now open with a vibrant new look and lively outdoor spaces. There are two outdoor seated areas at the front and back of the venue, and even indoors the interiors are inspired by the Garden of Eden, with rich green and teal interiors, elegant gold metal pendant lighting, colourful botanical prints, and comfortable leather seating. The Tree of Life hot-desking space has free WIFI and plugs galore, so if you’re looking for a space to work away from home set yourself up here with freshly brewed coffee on tap and plenty of light. Food-wise, The Adam & Eve offers up brunch, lunch and dinner, with Head Chef Tony Sweeny’s specials including British hake with spiced lentils and cucumber & chilli salsa, honeyed goat’s cheese, beetroot and walnut salad and traditional Sundays roasts, as well as a vegan reinterpretation of his famous fish and chips recipe and  with all the trimmings, as well as the pub’s hugely popular battered sausage, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. The pub also has six HD Screens showing every Rugby World Cup match.

9 Forza Wine, Peckham
Peckham does good rooftops. From Frank’s Cafe to the Bussey Building, there are plenty of spots to admire the city skyline from on high. And now there’s one more – Forza Wine – an outdoor drinking terrace on the fifth floor of Market, the new workspace on Rye Lane from Italian restaurant team Forza Win.

Opening on Tuesday 10 September, the terrace – a good spot to enjoy the last of the summer wine – offers guests a choice of 36 bottles of wine, with extra options on tap, as well as Italian snacks and small plates. And while we’re sure the terrace will be lovely for approximately three days before autumn sets in, there is indoor space too! Open 12pm-1am (midnight Sundays) serving lunch and dinner.

10 Yard Sale Pizza, Hackney
Five years after launching in Clapton, Yard Sale Pizza is heading to Hackney Road to open its fifth shop this September. Yard Sale’s pizzas are all handmade from double fermented dough in either 12″ or super-size 18″ and stone baked for perfect bubbly crusts. Signature pizzas include the Holy Pepperoni with pepperoni, Napoli piccante and crumbled Nduja sausage, the TSB with tender stem broccoli, parmesan, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil, and the vegan Herb Your Enthusiasm with grilled artichokes, olives, red onion, and salsa verde, as well as the cheese and Marmite garlic bread.

The two-floor space will be Yard Sale’s biggest opening yet, with a delivery area reaching into Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Hoxton, and London Fields for those who just can’t bear to venture outside. It will also be offering a brand-new special calzone menu available Monday to Friday lunchtimes only, featuring vegan, vegetarian and meat calzone options. Opening on Monday 30 September with a soft launch offer running the week before (details TBC).

The Bolingbroke in Battersea has had a magnificent makeover and is celebrating with a relaunch party on the evening of Thursday 12 September (RSVP to to join in the fun).

The bright, airy new look features a plethora of paper lanterns lighting up the atrium ceiling in the dining room, among a flurry of leaf-print pictures, while the bar area maintains a more traditional look, with petrol blue walls and warm, mustard-coloured drapes. Named in honour of Henry St John, 1st Viscount Bolingbroke – the brilliant politician and reckless rake, who spent the early and final years of his life in Battersea – The Bolingbroke’s emphasis is on top British food and traditional pub values, championing some of the best small producers the British Isles has to offer.

Carluccio’s Mushroom Wonderland, Covent Garden
Carluccio’s is celebrating mushroom season with a mushroom wonderland at the Covent Garden site featuring toadstool seating, an impressive mushroom archway and a fab fungi throne for that Insta moment. Whether you prefer them in sauces, sauteed on toast or with a comforting risotto, the strengths and subtleties of mushrooms have been championed in Italian cooking for centuries. From September through to November, Carluccio’s will be celebrating the mushroom season with a special range of artisan deli products, pop-up markets and a specials menu enriched by treasures from the Antonio Carluccio’s book, The Quiet Hunt, such as Truffle Lasagne and a fungi-inspired dessert, Bosco Incantato. Plus, if you buy two main courses from the mushroom menu, you’ll get a free bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal when you sign-up online and redeem your voucher beforehand here.

Yann Couvreur Residency at Claridge’s, Mayfair
Yann Couvreur, the world famous Parisian patissier, is opening his first store outside of France at the end of this year. Ahead of the Mayfair launch, Couvreur will be joining the pastry team at Claridge’s hotel for a week-long residency from 4-11 September. Taking over Claridge’s hallowed pastry kitchen, he will develop five signature pastries – his famous Paris Brest, a Dark Chocolate and Tonka Bean Eclair, a Fig & Walnut tart and more. All priced at GBP7, these will be available exclusively for Elevenses in the Foyer (from 11am-12pm), served from the Claridge’s trolley, or alternatively wrapped up ready to take-away.

Claridge’s famed Afternoon Tea (served every day from 2.45pm to 5.30pm) will also see Couvreur’s influence, with the addition of a selection of pastries throughout the residency.

Carnaby Eats is a month-long celebration of all things food and drink in Carnaby, where food-lovers will be spoilt for choice with special dishes, cocktails, cookbook launches and masterclasses.

Plus, eco-warriors can follow the Blue Turtle trail of ocean-friendly restaurants, part of a brand new sustainability scheme aiming to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic in Carnaby. Highlights include a special Carnaby Eats tasting menu at Ugly Dumpling (8-29 September) and free Mini Mixology taster classes at Jakata bar (8-15 September), a free Pisco Sour masterclass from Senor Ceviche (18 September), plus 50% off on Mondays at The Rum Kitchen if you book quoting ‘Blue Turtle’.
