Traffic updates as M4 Severn bridge closed by 'very serious' accident

The M4 Prince of Wales Bridge over the River Severn is closed as an air ambulance attends a “very serious” crash. All lanes have been closed from J22 to J23 following the incident this morning (September 4) and a diversion has been put in place. Motorists have been advised to use the M48 bridge as a diversion following the accident and traffic is queueing in both directions on the M4.

It was later confirmed the Severn bridge is likely to be closed for ‘several hours’. A diversion route has been put in place to avoid the crash site.
