A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry on a Basildon industrial estate

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry at a Basildon[1] industrial site. Yesterday (Friday, October 4) an air ambulance was seen attending an incident near to Cranes Farm Road[2]. Police were also called to the scene of the incident shortly after 1pm.

It has now been confirmed that officers attended following reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian at an industrial site near to Cranes Close in Basildon.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian – a man aged in his 60s – died at the scene. A 55-year-old man from Kent has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by wanton and furious driving and drug driving. An Essex Police spokeswoman has confirmed the man has now been released under investigation.
