A12 traffic: Police urge drivers to avoid area as lorry blocks road near Colchester

Police have urged drivers to avoid the A12[1] after they closed a lane to aid a stranded lorry. The lane closure is in place near Colchester[2] with traffic officers still on the scene today (Monday, October 14). Officers were travelling to another location when they came across the broken down lorry that had lost a wheel.

As a result they have had to shut one lane of the A12 and are asking drivers to avoid the area, between junction 29 and 28 on the southbound carriageway.

There is slow traffic building up to the area as a result of the lane closure. This is expected to last until the truck can be cleared from the road. A tweet from the Essex Police Rural Engagement team said: “Whilst on route to the rural areas came across a broken down lorry which has lost a wheel.

Avoid the area A12 southbound J29-28.”
