Burglars steal £2500 worth of tools from Kernick Industrial Estate – Falmouth Packet

Burglars targeted a vehicle in Penryn’s Kernick Industrial Estate overnight making off with around GBP2,500 worth of tools. A white Vauxhall Vivaro van was captured on CCTV driving around the area just after 3am this morning (Thursday October 17). Greg Jenking was “gutted” to find his collection that he had spent 20 years putting together had been taken.

Formerly self-employed but now working for Ardent Construction, he arrived at work today and saw that the company vehicle had been broken into. He said: “I got to the yard this morning – the tools were kept in a pickup truck with big silver box in it with big padlocks – I saw a load of stuff on the floor and thought ‘what?’ “As we got closer I realised it was vandalised and every bit of kit in it was gone.”

He added: “I’m pretty gutted and disappointed, it’s obviously holding up a lot of work.” Some of the missing gear includes: a Milwaukee tool bag, a Bosch impact wrench, a Leica laser level, a Makita radio, a Bosch hammer drill and a Bosch planer. Greg posted about the burglary on Facebook and was “overwhelmed” by the response from the community.

Nearby steel fabricator Metalcraft got in touch with CCTV footage showing a white van driving around just after 3am. Others contacted Greg offering to lend him tools while he tries to track down the missing ones. The burgled truck belongs to Greg’s employer who reported the incident to the police.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police are currently investigating a theft which happened between 6pm on Wednesday October 16 and 8am Thursday October 17.

“The incident happened at a construction site in Parkengue where a vehicle tipper truck which was parked overnight at the location was broken into and high value tools were stolen.
