LIVE: Serious A417 crash between lorry and car to close Gloucestershire road 'for some time'

A fatal crash has closed a stretch of the A417 in Gloucestershire this morning. Officers said the collision happened at the southbound junction with Burford Road at the Haresbush services. Emergency service and collision investigators are at the scene of the crash that involved a car and a lorry.

The driver of the car died at the scene, the lorry driver was uninjured.

The full statement from police reads: “Specialist collision investigators remain at the scene of a fatal collision on the A417 which involved a car and a lorry. “The incident happened at the junction with Burford Road at Haresbush services at around 10am today, Tuesday 8 October. “The driver of the car died at the scene.

“The lorry driver was physically uninjured in the collision. “Road closures have been put in place on the southbound carriage from Daglingworth quarry junction. The closures will be reviewed later this afternoon.

“The road is open northbound.” Earlier, police said the road would be closed ‘for some time’.

Highways England has put out a national alert on the closure, saying: “The A417 in Gloucestershire is closed southbound between the A436 and the A429 due to a serious collision involving a car and an HGV. “All emergency services including Gloucestershire Police are in attendance.”
