M62 crash latest: Lorry driver trapped underneath fallen load with air ambulance at scene

A driver is currently trapped underneath a lorry’s load on the M62. Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Humberside Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Humberside Fire & Rescue Service are currently attending to the crash on the Howden Spur slip road heading to the M62. Police have told Hull Live how a truck driver stopped to fix his load after it became insecure at about 4pm.

He then became trapped under it as it fell. The sliproad will remain closed and will be for the foreseeable future. In a separate crash, at the junction before the slip road, a car, believed to be a Land Rover, turned on its roof at about 4.30pm near Eastrington.

Thankfully, no one is seriously hurt. A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with two road traffic collisions on the westbound M62 in East Yorkshire, which happened this afternoon Thursday, October 10.

“The first happened around 4pm on the slip road near Howden Spur. A truck driver had stopped to fix his load after it became insecure.

“While doing so he became trapped underneath the load. Ambulance crews and officers are still at the scene.”
 

There has been a serious crash on the M62

Traffic is currently backing up after being temporarily held for emergency services to reach both scenes and drivers are being urged to avoid the area. The spokeswoman continued: “There are traffic delays in the area and motorists are advised to be patient at this time, or seek an alternative route.”
