Man charged in connection with Inverness lorry crash

A man has been charged after a lorry ended up on its side under a railway bridge causing a city road to be closed and trains cancelled. Traffic was disrupted after the HGV toppled over on Thornbush Road in Inverness earlier today. No one was injured.

Police say that a man had been charged in connection with the incident. The road was closed until early evening and officers remained on scene until the vehicle was removed. Railway engineers were called to check the damage and ScotRail cancelled north and west-bound services until 6.30pm while the stability of the bridge was assessed.

A series of road diversions were also put in place.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called around 11.10am Monday October 7 2019, following the report of a one vehicle road traffic collision on Thornbush Road, Inverness.”
