Metros suspended between North Shields and Wallsend after lorry hits bridge over A19

Subway passengers are waiting for a disturbing morning after a truck hits a bridge on the A19. The service is now suspended between Wallsend and North Shields in both directions following the Friday morning accident. Local buses accept tickets on the route while security checks are carried out.

"Our rules do not allow us to operate on this bridge until an engineer has verified that it is still safe.

Metro tickets can be used on Go to the North East 1, 1A, 11, 11A and 310 bus services between North Shields and Newcastle city center.
