Motorcyclist taken to hospital after crash involving lorry closed busy Newport road

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a lorry and motorbike on a busy Newport road. The A48 Spytty Road was closed for four hours between Corporation Road and the Nash Road roundabout as investigations into the cause were carried out. A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said that the motorcycle rider has been taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport for treatment. 

She added: “Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.”

The road has now-reopened.

There was also a four-vehicle accident on the M4 near Newport that caused delays on Wednesday morning.
