Dashcam appeal after lorry carrying digger crashed into A55 bridge and sparked major delays

Witnesses to a crash where a lorry hit a bridge on the A55[1] are being urged to contact police. Officers are appealing for anyone who caught dashcam footage of the moment a large goods vehicle carrying[2] an excavator smashed into a bridge on the eastbound carriageway near St George to get in touch. The collision, which happened at around the same time as a crash involving a vehicle and lorry in the same location on Friday, led to the dual carriageway being closed in both directions.

Major delays resulted for more than four hours through the afternoon, as drivers were diverted off the road.[3] Images released after the incident showed the excavator being carried by the lorry on its side, with significant damage to the carriageway as a result of the crash.
