Driver taken to hospital after lorry ploughs through A487 roundabout

A lorry driver was taken to hospital after crashing over a roundabout and into a field. The motorist was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor after crashing over the Plas Menai Roundabout on the A487 and into a field at around 7am on Saturday.[1][2][3] Their condition has not been disclosed.

Images from the scene of the incident showed track marks across the roundabout where the lorry had driven over it. There was then damage to the side of a field which borders the road.

The vehicle came to rest in the middle of the field, with significant damage to the cab of the lorry visible. A Welsh Ambulance Service[4] spokesperson confirmed that a person had been taken to hospital following the crash, but were unable to provide further details on whether they were male or female, and the extent of their injuries.

North Wales Police[5] warned motorists to avoid the area following the collision.

On Twitter, the force said there was mud and debris on the road as a result of the crash, and asked motorists to drive carefully near the scene.

A spokesman declined to provide further information about the crash.

No road closures were put into place as a result of the incident, but closures are expected when work is later carried out to recover the lorry.
