Man taken to hospital after being hit over the head with hockey stick following crash in Wythenshawe

Police have launched an investigation after a man was hit over the head with a hockey stick following a crash in Wythenshawe. Officers were called to a disturbance on Greatfield Road shortly after 6.35pm on Friday evening. Two cars collided with each other, before a man was assaulted.

The man, whose age is not known, was hit with a hockey stick which caused him to fall over, receiving a cut to the head. He was taken to hospital by ambulance but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Eye witnesses described seeing one of the vehicles containing a ‘group of young lads.’

A GMP spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6:35pm on Friday 8 November 2019, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Greatfield Road in Wythenshawe.

“The report stated that there had been a collision on the road before an assault took place.”
