Wolverhampton man killed in crash with car transporter on A460

The 28-year-old man from Wolverhampton died at the scene of the crash near the M6 on Monday lunchtime. The collision involved a Peugeot 107 and the car transporter and happened near Shareshill, between Wolverhampton and Cannock, at around 12.05pm. Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were sent to the scene and the A460 was closed between Junction 11 of the M6 and Junction 1 of the M54 as a result.

The driver of the transporter was unharmed. Officers are investigating but so far no arrests have been made, Staffordshire Police said. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a serious RTC involving a car and a vehicle transporter.

“The driver of the car, a man, was found in a critical condition and was rapidly removed from his vehicle in order for treatment to begin.

Advertising “Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene. “The lorry driver, a man, was assessed and discharged at the scene with no injuries.”

Staffordshire Police said specialist officers were supporting the man’s family.

Collision investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to call 101, quoting incident 237 of December 2.
