Biker, 37, tragically killed in crash named by police as Plympton man Christopher Snape

Police have named the motorcyclist who died following a collision in Plympton on the afternoon of January 6. Christopher Snape died aged 37 following an incident involving his silver Triumph Street Triple RX motorcycle, a black Ford Focus Titanium and a white Scania breakdown truck shortly before 4.50pm. The collision took place on an unclassified road which police have said is set between Deep Lane and Plympton Hill.

At the time Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has said it was called to reports of a motorbike on fire following a road traffic collision.

South Western Ambulance Service sent two land ambulance crews, an air ambulance crew and another paramedic to attend the incident.

Police have so far confirmed the motorcycle was involved in a head-on collision with the Ford Focus. Sadly, Mr Snape, from Plympton was pronounced deceased at the scene. An inquest is likely to be opened and adjourned some time this week ahead of a full inquest later this year.

Police are continuing their inquiries and are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision to contact them via  101@dc.police.uk, or by phone on 101, quoting log 535 of 6 January.
