'Crazy and savage' foxes target car in Sutton and burst tyres in bizarre overnight attack

A group of "crazy and savage" foxes targeted a car in a bizarre overnight attack that burst two tyres and left lasting scratch marks. Owner Celine Marks had been out on Saturday night (January 11) and returned on Sunday (January 12) to find her Toyota Yaris sat on the driveway with deflated tyres and peculiar damage. Although initially confused as to how her car had been left with flat back tyres and deep, gouging scratches, one of her neighbours, a witness to the strange incident, came out to explain.

Speaking to SurreyLive, Ms Marks added: "I came home on Sunday about midday because I had a night out, so I wasn't home. I came home that day and my neighbour came out to talk to me.

The damage to the back of the Toyota Yaris

"She said that during the night, about 2am, a few foxes had been going crazy at my car, attacking my back two wheels, scratching the whole car and circling it. "She was too scared to come out and scare them away, they damaged the car and ran off.

I think they went to attack her car." The damage was so severe that the 22-year-old had to pay for a tow truck to come and take her car to a garage so that it could be fixed. In total, Ms Marks, of Collingwood Road in Sutton, had to shell out GBP160 for two new tyres and GBP90 for the tow truck, making it a costly attack.

She added: "It is frustrating as well because it cost me a lot of money and it was so out of my control.

It just happened and I have to deal with the consequences. "I was completely shocked to hear the story because I thought it may have been kids coming along slashing tyres or something like that. It's just so odd.

No one has heard of it, even the people at the tyre place had never seen it before." Although both tyres have now been replaced, Ms Marks has held off repairing the scratch marks to her rear bumper, and has told others to be wary of any similar incidents. "It's quite damaged and scratched up," she said. "I paid too much for the tyre, I'm not looking to repair the back bumper just yet, but I think I will have to do something.

"I have taken measures to prevent it happening again. I've got fox repellent spray that I've bought. It's kind of scary thinking it might happen again, it's very unexpected.

"My neighbour says it looks like they were trying to get something, they were going crazy and savage, I don't understand, you can't really know what was going on."
