Dad fumes as Poundland staff in Exeter fail to actually open shop

A dad was left puzzled by the closure of a branch of Poundland when he stopped off to buy supplies on the schoolrun. A Poundland delivery truck was waiting outside the large Exe Bridges store and other customers were walking away. The store was due to open at 8am and the dad was rushing to get his child to school on time when he arrived to find it still in pitch darkness before 9am.

The angry dad accused the store of a lack of professionalism.

He said: “I’ve only been here for five minutes on the school run and loads of customers have been turning up and walking away. “You don’t expect this from a professional company like this, it’s not on.” The Exeter man, who didn’t want to give his name, added: “Poundland was meant to open at 8am and it’s still closed and the lights are all off.

“It’s the one at Exe Bridges. It’s pitch dark in there and a lorry driver is waiting to give them their delivery. It’s a Poundland truck.”

A spokesman for Poundland said: “We understand the disappointment of not opening on time. 

“We’ve given the feedback to the store team.”
