Driver dies after Swinley Road crash between car and lorry

A driver has died after a serious crash involving a lorry in Ascot. The man suffered fatal injures when his grey Honda Civic was involved in a crash with a DAF lorry in Swinley Road in Ascot. The 35-year-old, from Bagshot, died at the scene, at around 10.35am on Wednesday, January 29.

The HGV driver suffered minor injuries in the crash near the junction with Blanes Lane. PC Jess Barker of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, based at Taplow, said: “Very tragically, a 35-year-old man from Bagshot died at the scene of this collision. “The man’s family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

“Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.”

Witness appeal

PC Barker added: “I am appealing for anybody who witnessed this collision, or who may have dash-cam footage and was in the area at around the time of the collision, to please check this and contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 43200032497.

Swinley Road was closed for around five hours following the crash while emergency services and crash investigators were on the scene.

Drivers were diverted using roads in Bracknell and Ascot to get to their destinations.
