Images emerge of crash involving overturned lorry that has shut part of A1

Images have emerged showing the aftermath of a crash which saw a lorry overturn on the A1. The incident, which took place just after 8am today, Tuesday, January 28, involved two lorries and a car at Great Ponton. Following the crash, which saw one lorry overturn, the A1 northbound was closed between the junctions with Colsterworth and Harlaxton.

It remained shut as of 11.45am. Images from the scene show a red Biffa lorry pushed off the edge of the carriageway, while the load of the lorry lies on its side in the road. A police spokesperson said nobody is thought to have been injured in the crash.

They said: “Incident 54 reported at 8.06am refers to an RTC northbound at Great Ponton on the A1. “It involves a white Mercedes Benz HGV, a green Scania refuse disposal lorry and a blue Tesla saloon. Live updates as three more crashes cause chaos on Lincolnshire roads

Live updates as two incidents involving lorries cause major disruption on Lincolnshire’s roads  “The central reservation has been damaged.” It is the second major crash on the A1 today.

The road was closed northbound at Foston after another lorry overturned, although it has since reopened.
