Live updates – 'women thrown from car' in serious Alcester Road crash

Police closed off a busy city route after two passengers were thrown from the back seat in a serious crash. The women were said to have been ejected from the rear seats when the Ford Focus ST struck a tree on Alcester Road, Moseley in the early hours of this morning (Jan 25). Both passengers, aged 27 and 31, were rushed to hospital where they remained fighting for their life hours after the crash.

Firefighters, police and paramedics swooped to the scene at around 12.45am and part of the road was cordoned off by officers. West Midlands Police arrested a 30-year-old on suspicion of drink and dangerous driving and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
